The official page for Sakura Taisen ~Kimi Ga Aru Tame~ has been updated with story information, character profiles and information about the game's actual release. The Story information so far is pretty simple, it summarizes the events of the past games, telling us how Oogami came to work with the Teikoku Kagekidan and Paris Kagekidan and how his nephew Taiga came to lead the New York troupe. Then it goes on to tell us how it is now spring of Taishou 18 (1929) and the Hana-gumi is gearing up to do a play about Jeanne D'Arc (Titled the "Girl of Orleans") but a new demonic threat is on the horizon threatening to destroy the peace of the Imperial Capitol. Now onto the characters, we can see game sprites of all Hana and Hoshi-gumi members here nothing surprising but it is nice that we have Sumire's presence confirmed. The big news is the villains (?) who we see here. They are characters out of French history in the 100 years war, is Sakura Taisen trying to cash in on the popularity of the recent surge of such games in Japan (which I think started with the Fate/Stay series)? Whatever the case if they are the villains it's interesting to see Jean D'arc and her allies cast in those roles. Here they are: Jeanne D'Arc: The famous lady knight of France, who was given visions from God telling her to liberate her homeland from English domination during the 100 years war. At 19 she was convicted of heresy and burned at the stake, though she was later absolved and eventually sainted by the Catholic Church.
Dunois: Dunois commanded the French defenses at the siege of Orleans and together with Jeanne D'Arc defeated the attacking English force.
La Hire: The King's captain and a close comrade of Jeanne; he was a devout atheist and critic of religion and despite his respect for the Lady Knight, he doubted her visions.
Gilles de Rais: A French noble and soldier who fought alongside Jeanne, he was later convicted of murdering, torturing and raping dozens of children. Now onto the release information, the regular version of this game will be 4,800 Japanese Yen, and the limited edition which comes with a DS lite carrying case, skin-stickers and more retails at 6,840 Yen (both before tax). There is also a "Three Kagekidans, Move out!" campaign that we will update with more info on tomorrow. Taishou Legend will run a pre-order campaign of it's once once it's up for pre-order on Play Asia, watch here for details. |
