Overview

Sakura Taisen Revue the 5th, Kajin Bessou was the final Revue Kayou Show before the Super Kayous and Shinshuns, it was easily one of the most impressive performances in terms of scope. It is also the only play to feature Sakura's Father Shinguji Kazuma.

Izumi Kyoka's play is translated to the stage very faithfully in the second act, and while the usual Sakura Taisen flair and humor is interjected, it's not one of their totally off the wall plays. If you get a chance to read a translated script for The Sea God's Villa you'll have no trouble following what's going on.

Act 1

Act 1's Basu Wa Yuku Yuku

Sakura has lost an import memento of her father, she gets the other Hana-gumi members to look for it. While searching Kanna is hungry and not having any money to buy some food steals and offering of Inari Sushi meant for a Kitsune fox spirit. This angers the Fox spirit of the shrine who posses Sumire. The other Hana-gumi members come looking for Sumire and then battle her under control, Sakura comes in to save the day.

After the conclusion of the first act the Hana-gumi do a Taiko Preformance. Orihime is very impressive with the drums.

Act 2

Act 2's Kono shoumotsu wa

Izuma Kyoka's classic play "The Sea God's Villa", a young maiden(Sakura) is sacrificed to appease the spirits of the water, she actually becomes the bride of the prince of the ocean(Maria). After Sakura arrives ferocious sharks arrive; Kanna is playing the lead of the sharks. Mayumi Tanaka makes an excellent villain, and a great comedian. After the sharks are fended off the maiden is unsure if she wants to stay in the villa, she finds however she can not return to the surface world for the people would see her as a giant sea serpent, she is forever dead to them. The Prince tells her if she doesn't want to stay, and is not going to be happy that she will kill her. The maiden eventually realizes that she does love the prince and wants to live in the underwater world. They finish with a great send off number (Subete Wa Umi E).
